Raveen Florence
Hi I am Rae- a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I pride myself in creating a therapeutic, non-judgemental environment in which clients can feel safe and free to express themselves. I enjoy seeing my clients make positive changes and I continually encourage and motivate them towards reaching their goals. My sessions typically focus on helping my clients work toward healing and personal growth. I believe that seeking therapy is an opportunity for growth and it demonstrates a true sign of strength, dedication and perseverance.
During our first session or two, I will learn about you. I will get a better sense of what is going on, why you are seeking therapy and what your expectations and goals are for therapy. I will explain processes and procedures including safety planning and emergency procedures. We will create treatment goals and begin to work towards those goals. We will utilize several techniques in the session, but I will also assign homework and other tasks to be utilized outside of sessions. We will focus on processing emotions, and learning healthy coping skills and ways to modify and change negative thinking patterns and unhelpful behaviors. Our sessions may involve tears, laughs, some tough realizations and accountability but it's all with the intent of healing.
I use many of the common therapy modalities which include CBT, DBT, Psychoeducation, Mindfulness and Reality therapy. I like to use different techniques and strategies based on your current skill set and needs. I truly like to focus on decreasing symptoms and increasing healthy coping, resiliency, self-love and self-esteem. I also like to incorporate activity-based interventions which may include art, music or meditative deep breathing techniques.
My biggest strengths include rapport-building and connecting with my clients. I truly aim to individualize your experience as this is YOUR journey of healing. I foster a safe and supportive environment that allows clients to feel relaxed and supportive. I don't feel that every session has to be sad or heavy (although it will happen) but also filled with lightness, hope and healing. I like to view therapy as a ride that is sometimes scenic, sometimes not so scenic, sometimes long, sometimes bumpy, sometimes fast and other times slow but regardless of what's happening, we're moving towards a destination of healing and happiness.
I can't wait to be a part of your healing journey!
